These wrought iron gate and fence pieces are done in my signature BENT design for a client in Calgary, Alberta. The 10 foot long posts were put in the ground and secured with poured concrete first. Once they were set then the live edge fence and gate were created to fit the spaces. The gate dimensions are 72″ high by 42″ wide. It has the ability to swing both inside and out.
My wrought iron gate and fence BENT design is made from 1/2 inch solid round mild steel and I hand bend it while the steel is cold. Each piece of art is laid out so that no 2 pieces are the same. I look at each one as its own unique piece of art and through multiple layers of welding and grinding at the points where the iron intersects itself, a seamless piece of art is created. This gives you a one of a kind piece of functional iron art to enhance your outdoor living space.
The steel was first coated in a protective zinc and then finished in a low gloss textured black powder coat.
The gate latch needed to be part of the design and blend into the overall artistic look of the wrought iron gate.
