Functional Art Gallery
I create furniture that is functional art or maybe it is art that is functional furniture. However you see it you will find unique creations that will become a focus piece of your home that will create inspiration and conversation.
Also known as art furniture or art design, refers to a category of creative objects that combine both artistic and practical elements. It blurs the line between traditional art and functional design, as these pieces are not only aesthetically pleasing but also serve a utilitarian purpose. This style of art can encompass a wide range of items, including furniture like a table, chair, bench, headboard, wine rack, lighting fixtures, and more. It enriches your life and living environment. Every piece is made by hand making it a one of a kind piece as the hand can never create an exact duplicate.
Key characteristics of functional art include:
- Aesthetic Appeal: Functional art pieces are often designed to be visually striking, innovative, and thought-provoking. They may incorporate unusual materials, shapes, and designs that challenge traditional notions of form and function.
- Utility: Despite their artistic qualities, these art pieces are meant to serve a practical function. For example, a chair or table may be designed with artistic elements but should still be usable for sitting or placing objects.
- Limited Editions or One-of-a-Kind: Many functional art pieces are produced in limited quantities or created as unique, one-of-a-kind items. This exclusivity can add to their value and appeal to collectors.
- Artistic Expression: This style of art allows artists and designers to express their creativity and individuality. It often blurs the boundaries between fine art and design, giving artists the freedom to experiment with various forms, materials, and techniques.
- Collectibility: Functional art can be sought after by collectors and art enthusiasts, and some pieces can appreciate in value over time, similar to traditional art forms.
All of my art pieces that are currently available for purchase can be found here in my store.
Some of my functional art is finished in a hand painted finish and some in a powder coat, and you can learn about the powder coating process here.
