This modern iron railing is my Sticks Design and sleek and strong is a great way to describe this look. Created for a client in Oceanside California, this client replaced their entire old railing This design is created using solid round steel in 3 layers to get the desired look. The top rail is a 1" high x 2" wide rectangle tube and the bottom rail is a 2" x 1/4" thick flat iron. The sticks of the iron art are laid out in a random pattern. I did this project a few years ago with the end result being a distressed wood railing with my BENT iron art railing inserts. The railing had golden oak handrails and base and white balusters. The first step was to remove the white balusters and strip the oak handrail and base down to the bare wood. From there I custom fit and created my BENT iron art railing design as inserts. Here is our latest wrought iron railing design on a custom deck in Calgary, Alberta. The client contacted me and provided the dimensions between the wood posts. From there I created my design in a 42" high railing. The steel was finished in a midnight black powder coat to ensure they will last a long time in the outdoors.
