Great for your porch, deck or entryway, it is a piece of art waiting for you sit and have long conversations with a good friend.   Or maybe it is a quick place to sit and tie up your shoes before you head out.  However you choose to use it, people will be wowed when they see it in your home. Converting your old wood railing to an amazing iron art railing is a simple 5 step process. Iron Window Well Cover

Iron Window Well Cover

This project is a window well cover and I am looking at it as a piece of functional iron art within a frame. It will be seen both from the vantage point of looking down on it while standing or sitting on the deck and also from the inside basement office window looking out. It will also create some beautiful shadows in the basement office space when the sun shines through the design. The window well was framed in when the deck was built with a ledge for the cover to sit on. For emergency exit out of the window…

There is a tree growing through the house, in fact there are two!

Sigi Koko, the Principal of Down To Earth Design contacted me to use my BENT Iron Art railing as it complimented and accommodated a home that had a couple of trees growing through it. Naturally my railing design was the way to go. Seen here in these photos my BENT Iron Art railing intersects with the tree trunks in a home that had a couple of trees growing through it that look like sculpted pieces on their own and go up and through the home.  The first photo has the railing finished with the wood handrail capping it off nicely.…

Take A Boring Wood Gate And Make It Amazing With Whimsical Iron Art

Instead of having a boring wood gate like everybody else in the neighborhood you can make your garden gate amazing by adding my whimsical wrought iron art to the front of it. A wrought iron gate combined with wood can be created simply by taking any wood gate and simply attach my iron art to the front with a set of screws and you have that WOW factor.  The iron art for the gate was sculptured by hand, and all the iron is hand bent without the use of heat. It is finished in a skillet grey powder coat to…

BENT iron art interior railing with a distressed wood handrail and base

BENT iron art interior railing with a distressed wood handrail and base

I did this project a few years ago with the end result being a distressed wood railing with my BENT iron art railing inserts. The railing had golden oak handrails and base and white balusters.  The first step was to remove the white balusters and strip the oak handrail and base down to the bare wood.  From there I custom fit and created my BENT iron art railing design as inserts.  The iron was powder coated in a oil rubbed bronze finish. From that point the BENT iron art railing was then installed and attached to the handrail and wood…

STIX Sculptural Coat Rack

STIX Sculptural Coat Rack

My STIX Sculptural Coat Rack has found a new home to hold the coats, bag and umbrella's of many fine people in a law office in Toronto, Ontario. The inspiration for the STIX Coat rack came when I was thinking of a coat rack design that would be a sculpture on it's own and could be changed up to allow it to have a new look any time it was desired by the owner.  This led to the iron STIX being designed to slide in and out of iron tube slots in the base so each one can be moved…
